We are a specialist Scenic Art studio based just north of Sheffield, England, a dedicated paintshop producing high-quality painted scenery, backdrops, murals, and finishes.

The Musical, Oliver! The Musical and Matilda The Musical, along with major producing theatres including Sheffield Theatres and Storyhouse, Chester.

Meet The Founders
Heritage Scenic Studio Ltd. was founded by professional Scenic Artists, Joe Philpott and Sam Piper, who share more than twenty years of combined experience across theatre, live performance, and specialist scenic finishes. After building their careers in leading scenic workshops, major productions, and respected educational institutions, they established Heritage to protect and future-proof a craft that is rapidly disappearing.
Together, Joe and Sam bring a balance of complementary expertise: Joe’s background in fine art, props maintenance, and large-scale scenic delivery pairs seamlessly with Sam’s leadership in scenic management, professional training, and industry education. Their combined experience spans West End, touring, and international productions, giving them deep insight into the creative, technical, and logistical demands of the sector.
